SK Dyne™ | Pressure-Sensitive Adhesive for Functional Applications

Product Description

Adhesives used in industrial products and in various aspects of daily life must have functionalities that match their intended purpose and use environment. We have a lineup of specialty adhesives with differentiated functions designed using our unique development capabilities. In addition to the products listed below, we also offer a wide variety of pressure-sensitive adhesives to meet your needs and applications.

SK Dyne™ | Pressure-Sensitive Adhesive for Functional Applications

Usage Examples

SK Dyne™ NT-21 | Electrolyte (High Polarity Solvent) Resistant Pressure-Sensitive Adhesive

The casing of a lithium-ion battery, the most common type of rechargeable battery, is assembled by injecting a non-aqueous electrolyte solution. The tape used for securing the wound portions of the batteries must not peel when immersed in an electrolytic solution. SK Dyne™ NT-21 has been shown to not peel even when subjected to such conditions. This ability makes it suitable for applications that require electrolyte resistance, such as tape used to secure wound elements in lithium-ion batteries. Other features include low adhesion.

Electrolyte Immersion Test (EC:DEC=1:1)
Electrolyte Immersion Test (EC:DEC=1:1)
  • ●Test conditions
  • Peeling speed: 300 mm/min
  • Peeling angle: 180°
  • Measuring conditions: 23°C/50% RH
  • Substrate: 60 μm CPP (unstretched polypropylene) film, 8 μm AL (aluminum) sheet coating amount: 10 μm dry
  • Electrolyte solution: [Electrolyte] LiPF6 (lithium hexafluorophosphate), [Solvent] EC (ethylene carbonate)/DEC (diethyl carbonate) = 1/1, [Electrolyte]: 1 mol/L polar solvent solution
  • After applying the sample, press it with a 2 kg roller, leave it for 1 hour in the measurement environment, and measure the initial adhesive strength as well as the strength after 7 days immersed in the electrolyte solution. The sample must be allowed to sit for one hour after removing from solution before measurement.

SK Dyne™ MD-1 | Medical Adhesive

Pressure-sensitive adhesives used on the skin must have good adhesion to the skin and be able to be removed cleanly. SK Dyne™ MD-1 has been shown to have the same adhesive strength (stick force) to Bakelite, which is commonly used in adhesive strength tests of tapes for medical use, as stainless steel. This feature makes it suitable for medical applications such as surgical tape. Other features include low odor, cold resistance, and more.

SK Dyne™ 1429DT | Water-Resistant Pressure-Sensitive Adhesive

Potential applications include those requiring water resistance, such as window films. Window films must be water-resistant because the method to apply them involves water and because condensation and wetting are expected after the film is applied. SK Dyne™ 1429DT has been evaluated via a warm water immersion test—no peeling from the adherend or loss of adhesive strength was observed. This feature makes it suitable for water-resistant applications such as solar films and light-blocking films. Other features include adhesive compatibility with non-toluene* and olefin materials.

  • *Includes toluene at a concentration of approximately 500 ppm.
